Lounging day

Hellooo Mom and Dad, lets go swimming.
Mom's humming the theme from Jaws.
Dad and I working on our vitamin D production.

A fiddlin good time

We went to the fiddling competition in Weiser, ID.  Before the National Grand Champion finals there was a battle of the bluegrass bands in the park.

Oohh.  Banjo.

I dig this outdoor concert thing.

Great music but I had to rest up for the competition.
The main event.  (OK actually this was taken Friday night during the earlier rounds but our seats were further away during the finals and we didn't get any good pictures).  The fiddling was great but so were the accompanists, some of them played with almost all of the fiddlers!
This woman was in the Adult competition, not in the Grand Champion division. But I thought she sounded great. If you listen, you can hear me singing along...

Father's Day happenings

I took Dad to a fancy historic hotel for breakfast and they gave me this old timey high chair.
Sitting at the big boy table.
I like lemons, I think. And I like to share with Mom.
Pretty stained glass ceiling above the restaurant.
Then we drove to Hell's Canyon. It's the deepest canyon in the US.
Mommy liked the flowers.
Pretty flowers, but don't fall off the edge.
I waited patiently while Mom took pictures. I'm pretty sure that she wanted me to sample the local rocks.
More pretty flowers.

Pretty canyon. We were so high up that we couldn't even see the Snake River.
I like to see the world from a different perspective.

Oregon gold country

This is the vault from the Sumter bank, the rest of the building burned down. Can you see the bars of gold on the scale in the vault?
We decided to check out the old mining town of Ritter. Most of the town is gone but the hotel, store, and hot pool are still around.
The pool was closed for cleaning, so we checked out the bath house.
One of the rooms and soaking pools in the bath house.
It's small but the water is nice.
Yeah splashy hot water.
And Mom like this (either Aquificales or Thiothrix growing in the source spring).

Traveling the Oregon Trail

We stopped in the Blue Mountains at an Oregon Trail interpretive center.
Dad showed me a friendly fir.
Looking down the ruts of the Oregon Trail.
Dad put me up in the wagon to test out my driving skills.
Which, if I do say so myself, were very good.
Back on the road.
Bye

Happy Father's Day

We haven't had internet or cell coverage so couldn't post any pictures this week or call Grandpa's to say happy Father's Day. But I had a great time with my Daddy.

Another Day in Pendleton

Look at me move, I`m so fast the camera can`t keep up.
Mommy sat me in front of this toy and I pulled my self up.
ooohhhh so cool

This guy followed us home from the children`s musuem and pretended to be nice.
He said he was walking around in pretty fields like this all day and that we should go watch a hockey game.
So that`s what we did.

Historical Pendleton

We knew it was going to be a good Saturday when we walked out and saw all these old cars. The owner of this REO Speedwagon seemed a bit nervous when I was standing on the bumper.
An early 30's Ford coupe.
After the cars and breakfast, we went on a tour of the Pendleton underground.
Looking down one of the tunnels.
The butcher shop.
Manganese glass "windows" in the sidewalks would let the light in.
The stamped tin roof of a Speakeasy.
At one time there were 18 brothels in Pendleton.
Standing inside one of the businesses looking out at one of the tunnels.
Then we went to the Tamastslikt Cultural Center where we saw Tule reed houses and watched a women clean and dry Bitterroot.
Another long day...
