Swamps, Day 2

Mom, Dad and I headed out to the saltwater swamps on the west side of the wildlife refuge.

 

No gators here, just crawdading or crabbing boats.

 

A little teacup nest-not currently occupied.

 

PELICANS!!

 

We're at the Gulf of Mexico.

 

The crazy lady thought that I should stick my hand in that cold water. I disagreed.

 

Mom and I on the ferry that took us across the river for lunch.

 

The houses down here are built on really tall stilts to try to survive hurricanes. This little town was completely wiped out in 2005 and 2008. Maybe not the best location for a beach house.
