swamp

We took a swamp tour with Shawn who was great and talked funny.
A Great Blue Heron that we got too close to.
White Ibises flying over us.

Dad says this is some kind of flycatcher. He wasn`t very specific.

A Black Crowned Night Heron.

Mom and dad were surprised that Herons nest so high in the trees.

Duck weed designs.

Whistling ducks.

The swamp was cold.
A mound of Nutrias
Spanish Moss in a Cypress tree.
Resurrection Ferns.
A Cypress tree.
Spanish Moss in the wind.
The sun finally came out...
and then I fell asleep.

  1. Nutrias are an introduced species (from South America). Body like a beaver with a round tail like an otter. Pretty cute, but not popular with locals for some reason. Maybe they don`t taste good or something...
